The door opens a gateway,
to everywhere in my soul.
He sits down and stares at the lock
What key do I need, to get away from here?
I stare and look in dismay
Are his reasons my goal?
I lift my legs and rock
up and down in fear.
The engine starts and there we go.
I am a little girl again.
Jumping up and down in the garden
Circling around my father.
My father is still here, so
i hope we can,
keep it up untill the shell hardens
and I lose him again.
My father meant the world to me,
why did he have to go?
My father means the world to me.
He was my best friend
The engine runs out of petrol here
We’re at the end of the line.
My soul has left me now.
It’s time to follow, my father.

here is my writing exercise for this week
That was such a great idea. I love the structure of going through keys one by one. I never thought of keys as that important or symbolic but this story opened my mind. Often we have keys given to us through different parts of our lives and they can represent so much. Thanks for contributing this week, Terri, to Picture it & write. It’s a pleasure to read your creativity. 😀

Aw, the tease. I really like the way it was structured though, allowing the reader to choose. I really like Annie’s suggestion, she’s full of wisdom and insight. 🙂 I love how you included ‘Fear’ amongst ‘Anticipation’ and ‘Excitement’. It’s great to see you contribute to Picture it & write for another week. I love your way of communicating a story. It’s like an internal dialogue but with so much eloquence. It’s not just a mad scramble of incoherent thoughts that my own internal dialogue might be like. 😛 I also really liked how you mentioned that maybe there was no choice. A thought provoking piece. Hey there, Meli! Thanks for contributing this week to Picture it & write. I loved the description of the feet being so white you could see the blue veins. It was creative and I’ve never heard such a description. I also really enjoyed the mysterious cliff-hanger ending. I wonder what would happen next to this poor man! I hope to see you next week with some more great writing.

I want to use the picture of the keys on my blog. Is there a way for me to do that? I would of course put a link to your site. It made me think of Solomon’s dream in which God came to him and asked him what he wanted. So, I wanted to use it for a devotional entry.
By the way, I wish I could use the black animal with the glowing green eyes too. I used that image in another post. Thanks for all of the great ideas.
