I urge people to join in, comment with your paragraph of fiction to accompany the image. It doesn’t have to follow my story or reflect the same themes. It can be a poem or in a different language (provide a translation please ). Anyone who wants to join in, is welcome. This photograph will be reblogged under Ermisenda on tumblr and added to the Picture it & Write gallery on Facebook.
Every fortnight we hope to host a photograph suggested by contributors. So, keep those photograph recommendations coming. Submit your favourite images (with credit) for next week’s Picture it & write!

The door opens a gateway,
to everywhere in my soul.
He sits down and stares at the lock
What key do I need, to get away from here?
I stare and look in dismay
Are his reasons my goal?
I lift my legs and rock
up and down in fear.
The engine starts and there we go.
I am a little girl again.
Jumping up and down in the garden
Circling around my father.
My father is still here, so
i hope we can,
keep it up untill the shell hardens
and I lose him again.
My father meant the world to me,
why did he have to go?
My father means the world to me.
He was my best friend
The engine runs out of petrol here
We’re at the end of the line.
My soul has left me now.
It’s time to follow, my father.

Wow! I have a hard time commenting on poetry, but this locked me up from the first line to the last. Beautiful. Moving. Complete. Thanks!

Great work, Otheus. I agree with Annie, it was a beautiful piece. It ends on a lovely dark note. Thanks for contributing this week at Picture it & write!

Lovely, Gillian. Another dark perspective on the image. Very powerful. I’m glad you contributed this week with your work. I hope to see you contribute to Picture it & write next week! 🙂

The idea of choosing only one key fit so closely with my idea I had to use your paragraph, so hope you like, The Key of Choice.

I love how you weaved the paragraph I originally wrote into the story so effortlessly. I agree with 1 Story a Week, your story is deep with meaning. Great story. Thanks for contributing this week to Picture it & write! 🙂

You listed missing keys; it was just too perfect not to! 🙂

I asked for someone to come and unlock my heart
Instead, I got you
You hold the keys to all that I am
You unlocked me…

So sweet. This is fantastic. So simple and yet so powerful. Lovely work, Littleskew. Thanks for contributing and I hope to see you next week at Picture it & write! 🙂

A bittersweet story. It’s a shame about his family. I loved the description of the doors and then the bringing out of keys. Very well written. Beautiful. Thanks for contributing and I hope to see you next week again, Joetwo. 🙂

That was such a great idea. I love the structure of going through keys one by one. I never thought of keys as that important or symbolic but this story opened my mind. Often we have keys given to us through different parts of our lives and they can represent so much. Thanks for contributing this week, Terri, to Picture it & write. It’s a pleasure to read your creativity. 😀

Aw, the tease. I really like the way it was structured though, allowing the reader to choose. I really like Annie’s suggestion, she’s full of wisdom and insight. 🙂 I love how you included ‘Fear’ amongst ‘Anticipation’ and ‘Excitement’. Such a decision would include a myriad of conflicting emotions. Thanks for contributing this week to Picture it & write, Sam. I hope to see you writing again sometime soon!

Seems, after reading yours, that we shared very similar mind images evoked by the picture…! 😉

It’s great to see you contribute to Picture it & write for another week. I love your way of communicating a story. It’s like an internal dialogue but with so much eloquence. It’s not just a mad scramble of incoherent thoughts that my own internal dialogue might be like. 😛 I also really liked how you mentioned that maybe there was no choice. A thought provoking piece. I hope to see you contributing next week again!

Thank You Ermilia. Wow; eloquence! That brightens my little heart. 🙂

Hey there, Meli! Thanks for contributing this week to Picture it & write. I loved the description of the feet being so white you could see the blue veins. It was creative and I’ve never heard such a description. I also really enjoyed the mysterious cliff-hanger ending. I wonder what would happen next to this poor man! I hope to see you next week with some more great writing.

AWWWWW I’m flattered!! Thank you so much! It’s only thanks to your blog and my friend stumbling upon it that I was able to come up with that hehe, but yes I shall be participating in your next challenge 🙂 truly I’m grateful.

P.S: Dreaming With Ink had a total of four contributors, my friend and fellow writer, Sasha, participated in the challenge too 🙂 http://dreamingwithink.wordpress.com/2012/07/07/picture-it-write/

I want to use the picture of the keys on my blog. Is there a way for me to do that? I would of course put a link to your site. It made me think of Solomon’s dream in which God came to him and asked him what he wanted. So, I wanted to use it for a devotional entry.
By the way, I wish I could use the black animal with the glowing green eyes too. I used that image in another post. Thanks for all of the great ideas.
