Oooh, to have that power, Ermisenda… Scary….!
Here is my contribution for this week. It isn’t along my usual lines however; my partner encouraged me to post it after my own misgivings. He comforted me with the words, “This is something I find in most fiction writing; it’s truth.” Quite ironic, I thought…!

I’m glad your partner urged you to. It was great and very true. Sometimes the strongest and most loaded of messages are given when you don’t say anything at all. Great contribution this week, Carolyn!

Many thanks, Ermisenda. My partner also thanks you. We are currently on the road to dancing..! Yes, what we don’t say can be just as damaging as unwise words spoken… Guilty as charged! 😉

That right there,
That is the hand of creation,
The ever booming light which begot the infinity.
And to think,
We are here to witness it,
For an eternity.

I like the words infinity and eternity with this picture! Nice message!

Thank you, I am glad you enjoyed them.

I agree with Annie. A beautiful selection of words. I also like how you talked about us witnessing it in a passive manner, we can’t control it, only enjoy. Thanks for contributing this week!

Ouch! Couldn’t you hold onto us until December 21st? 🙂 This reminded me of the marbles in Men in Black. “I traced my finger along the weakening atmosphere, caressing the decaying planet.” I can just picture the pretty little ball. I’ve been really quite caught up with the Mars thing, and in some of the stuff I’ve read, I’ve found it very scary to learn that they believe a planet can lose its atmosphere! How fragile it is and look how we take it for granted!
And on my Mars theme… here’s Life on Mars.
Ermilia said:
Haha, whose to say the story isn’t from the future? 😛 Ah, I can see what you mean about the Men In Black reference, awesome movie. I loved that scene with the marbles, when I watched it at such a young age, my mind practically exploded with all the possible stories in all the planets.
Your story: I love that he refers to curiosity as a her. I was a bit confused as to how the two stories linked up, was her imagination THAT powerful or is she psychic? 😛 Or am I just looking too deeply into it. Regardless, I loved Kiri’s adventures on mars. Thanks for contributing this week, Annie. 🙂

Eeek, goes the buzzer. Wrong answer.
Step away from the globe. Hands on your head!
The Planetary Police are here to arrest you for Global Endangerment.
Far worse than what the inhabitants may or may not be doing.
You are not the Global God or Goddess.
😉 great piece

Haha! Good luck stopping this “Goddess” at destroying the world. Mwahahaha. Sometimes I (Ermisenda) get power trips. 😛 Excuse this one. A great poem on your behalf. I seem to note that you have a thing for Shakespeare!

I love stories that are concise and have that “circular” effect. I like how you started with the “not so important” poster and then end it with the poster having much more meaning. Although, I’m a bit confused about who was the “crazy”. 😛 Did she see him in the poster at the end? Either way, great storytelling descriptions!

Hi, I’m back! It’s been a long time and I hope to be making a permanent return because I always loved the pictures that you would post. So here’s my first I love the picture ❤

Know the arcana of the Earth
As the whispering flares
Crisscross over the atmosphere
A voracious energy
Pulsating throughout it
Cackling with fury
From molecule to molecule
Sending energy through us,
And bending light down to our bones.
The sun and her reflection
A glorious sign of imperfect perfections.

Hey. It’s great to see you back. I’m glad you like the pictures I post! Eliabeth will be hosting the next 2 week Picture it & writes, hopefully you enjoy them too. Some beautiful use of evocative language in your poem. My favourite phrase was ‘whispering flares crisscross over the atmosphere’. Nice!
Anne Schilde said:
Voracious energy! An interesting cycle in the space of two words.
Otheus said:
A light, a flash
at the edge of our atmosphere
Illuminating the sky’s beauty.
A blast, a cloud
at the ground
Where our feet stand
I look down, ready to jump
Do I open the parachute
Or leave this world, at war.
– Otheus
Ermilia said:
Powerful imagery, Otheus. A cloud on the ground? Uh-oh, what have we humans done to ourselves! Thanks for contributing this week. 🙂

A great piece. I adored this line – “Life. Compressed into pages, pictures and songs.” It’s what we are trying as writers, isn’t it? That line spoke to me. 🙂 Thanks for contributing to this picture, Anna!
