Found this on Tumblr and I thought it was very creative! It might inspire some creative poets out there. 🙂

Read this poem.
Then read it backwards.
Lost Generation
I’m a part of Lost Generation
and I refuse to believe that
I can change the world
I realize this may be a shock but
“Happiness comes from within”
is a lie, and
“Money will make me happy”
So in thirty years I’ll tell my children
They are not the most important thing in my life
My employer will know that
I have my priority straight because
Work
Is more important than
Family
I tell you this
Once upon a time
Families stay together
But this will not be true in my era
This is a quick fix society
Experts tell me
Thirty years from now I will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of my divorce
I do not concede that
I will live in a country of my own making
In the future
Environmental destruction will be the norm
No longer can it be said that
My peers and I care about this earth
It will be evident that
My generation is apathetic and lethargic
It is foolish to presume that
There is hope
And all of this will come true unless we reverse it.

I’ve seen this poem before, and it’s really amazing seeing how the poem works in retrospect to each of it’s halves, and it speaks a lot of what the children of the 90’s and today feel, and it’s flipping a coin and trying to be optimistic like that, it’s one of my greatest fears that thirty years from now I’d have had one or two divorces, and that I neglect my kids. I want to be a father and really am afraid for myself; and still have a hard time coming to terms with my own insecurities and anxieties. This poem is great and I’m glad you brought it back up guys!

Thanks for being brave enough to share this with us, Devin. We all have our insecurities and I also worry about the goals that I have. But hey, we will never know unless we strive towards them, right? As long as we stay grateful, humble, and passionate, I think that we can probably make the best of our circumstances. Not forgetting ourselves along the way. 🙂

kvennarad is right… again… I cannot read backwards for the life of me, sorry, just couldn’t do it.

Thanks for trying! 😛 It took me a while to get the hang of it.

It’s so creative that it really deserved its own recognition. Let me know if you ever do and share it with us! I’d love to read it. 🙂

Will do, trying to finish 5000 words for Camp Nanowrimo at the moment and stay on top of NaPoWriMo poems too, so apart from a few blog challenge writes my brain is pretty full of all that writing! I think trying to compose a reverse poem would need lots of drafting and editing time. Will post on my blog and swish you a link over here for sure, would love you to read it. 🙂

Oh, best of luck with NaNoWriMo. I used to do it in highschool. But the last three years, November always lands over my exam period and I don’t have the motivation to start a NaNoWriMo in any other month. 😛 It’s something about November and all the writers grouping together that is inspiring! Yeah, take the time to write it because it will definitely take effort but will be well worth it. 🙂

I only found out about NaNoWriMo a couple of months ago – loved the idea and couldn’t believe I had to wait until the winter. Then I happened upon the Camps! Great idea and hopefully will have me all set up for November. I can imagine writing with hot chocolate and marshmellows is more fun!
I also found out about NaPoWriMo which has been an awe inspiring venture. I love the international idea and the fact that there are so many people doing the mad tap, tap, tapping this year!
I wonder how many of us will need to take our tech to a shop by May!

I might have to check into the camps. Or just manage exams PLUS NaNo this November. 😛 The international feel of the NaNo IS amazing!
