Eliabeth is busy moving. I have taken over for her this week.
I urge people to join in, comment with your paragraph of fiction to accompany the image. It doesn’t have to follow my story or reflect the same themes. It can be a poem or in a different language (provide a translation please ). Anyone who wants to join in, is welcome. This photograph will be reblogged under Ermisenda on tumblr and added to the Picture it & Write gallery on Facebook and Pinterest.
Please continue to write however you’re inspired, but add a tag to the beginning of your post if there’s mature content in order to keep Picture it & Write an engaging event for all of our followers.
As I stepped onto the sand, my shoes didn’t leave deep prints. The sand was moist and firm. The sky threatened to rain again. I hurried onto the beach, searching for what I came for. My hair whipped my face as a gust of wind slammed my body. There was no one else on the beach. I squinted as I looked to my left and right. The beach stretched out so far until it blurred with the grey horizon. Why wasn’t it here? Why couldn’t I feel it? Why wasn’t my sadness dissipating with each breath of fresh air?
Tucking my hand in my coat, I turned around. If I stayed out too long, I was sure to find half the beach in my clothes and stockings. As I dragged my feet towards the car, I realised that I would be forever searching. He wasn’t here now and he would never be here again.

Yay–moving (rolls eyes); hope Eliabeth is doing okay with that. And thanks for giving us such a mysterious prompt, Ermisenda! Here’s my few words: http://starvingactivist.com/blog/2014/02/01/picture-it-write-2-february-2014-going-home/

Lol, yeah, it’s been pretty exhausting on her. I haven’t moved out of home yet but from her stories, it’s really tiring and I don’t look forward to the physical moving-out phase.
Oh wow. I like how it was so ‘normal’ and then suddenly, you throw that delightful twist. Great build up! Thanks for contributing this week. 🙂

I really liked how you flipped a cliche. Normally in novels the smell of seasalt is something that gives the character peace and makes them feel happy. But here, it has become a smell associated with a future she doesn’t want or a present she is unhappy with. Very cool, Meghan.

Oh, I would hate to have to move–it would be a real hardship. I hope that it all turns out well.
Ours is a Dr. Who fan fiction, so if anyone likes that sort of thing they can read it, and if they don’t like that sort of thing, they have been warned!

I hope someone can save those poor people in the alternate dimensions too. Why would you be able to cross dimensions if you weren’t meant to do it? Maybe they were meant to help? Cool concept.

He used to sing “Lady in Red” to me, crooning like Chris De Burgh as we walked together on the beach.
Now, after the years, the fights and the cheating, I would put on a red dress, walk down to the beach and remember when I was young, foolish, and in love.

How bittersweet. This hit me straight in the feels with so few words. Great work, Joe!

This is a piece that is easy to relate to. Since you focus on the feeling of hope and uncertainty, you don’t specify the problem. Anyone can fit themselves straight in. Lovely writing. It’s great to see you again, Carolyn!
