Halloween has come and gone and my social media pages have been flooded with costumes. Some people are so creative! I didn’t celebrate Halloween, it’s not THAT big a deal here in Australia but every year people get more involved. People love an excuse to get dressed up.
I saw some cool book costumes that I wanted to share. Did you dress up? What did you dress up as?

Not to put a downer on anything but it looks like number four ripped up a book for her costume. Unless it is tax law that would be unconscionable.
Haha. It most definitely is torn book pages! I’m assuming she used boring old books that she has no use for anymore.
It’s good to see people ‘getting into the mood’. Here in the UK, Halloween isn’t that big, either – certainly not like in the US. But it is becoming more popular year by year. When I was a child (way back in the Dark Ages!) few people even thought about dressing up and going out trick or treating. I think we were all saving up for fireworks and building bonfires ready for Bonfire Night (Guy Fawke’s Night) on November 5th. Still, it’s good to see people having fun. Such great costumes, too.
It sounds like a similar deal to Australia. People keep getting ‘in the mood’. Guy Fawke’s Night sounds amazing. I’d love to go to it one day as I’m a sucker for fireworks!
Unfortunately, in recent years, the injuries caused by fireworks have been a big issue here. There have been big clamp downs on private sales, and most people are advised to go to organised displays. I must admit, fireworks are dangerous things in the hands of children!. Health and Safety issues certainly didn’t arise in the 1950’s and 60’s. Fireworks are still on sale nowadays, but certainly not to children any more, But I still have happy memories of a bonfire and fireworks in everyone’s back garden. Ah well . . .
Ah, that’s a shame. But ultimately the rules are there to protect the people. It’s just a shame they had to be introduced. I still imagine the organised displays are amazing!
I’m not into Halloween anymore and I don’t know why I feel grouchy talking about it. The costumes you’ve shared here are gorgeous. β€
Hmm… interesting. I wonder what changed your mind. These costumes are just so cool! π
The costumes and pictures are awesome and I love them all. I just don’t like how commercial and expensive costumes have become. What happened to the good old days when kids could use their imaginations? That’s all. π
You make a good point. There’s a huge industry in the costumes.
These are all wonderful costumes. I enjoy seeing other people dressed up and having fun. ~~~ : – )
Yeah me too. I find it funny that we get so much joy in dressing up as something else.
I guess it’s our fantasies coming to life. πΊ
Hello there, the Effie Trinket pictured here is my daughter and that is actually my picture, not sure how it ended up on your blog. In response to the commercialism of Halloween. I handmade this for fun, with her. It’s our thing and every year making the costume is as much fun as wearing it. My photography and her costumes are a joint effort between her and i.
Hey Marisol. I took the photograph off google images. Would you like me to take it down? I’ll do it in an instant. π I’m sorry I didn’t request permission from you. It is such an impressive costume! Congratulations on the achievement.
No, not at all. I don’t mind one bit. Thank You for sharing it. The image got around tons so I just like to know where people found it. By the way, I’m really enjoying your blog.
Thanks, Marisol. π Do stick around! π
