I urge people to join in, comment with your paragraph of fiction to accompany the image. It doesn’t have to follow my story or reflect the same themes. It can be a poem or in a different language (provide a translation please ). Anyone who wants to join in, is welcome. This photograph will be reblogged under Ermisenda on tumblr and added to the Picture it & Write gallery on Facebook and Pinterest.
Please continue to write however you’re inspired, but add a tag to the beginning of your post if there’s mature content in order to keep Picture it & Write an engaging event for all of our followers.
The snake weaved between my fingers. Black and white lattice. A tiny forked tongue sprung out and licked my thumb. I shut my eyes as it slithered. The feeling was strange but welcome. I tightened my hold and it bit me. It was weak and soft. My grasp tightened until the snake burst into ashes. Tiny black scales appeared on my fingers, racing down to my hands and arms.

Loved this line, “Mrs. Jenkins was pretty old, maybe an accident with some stairs…” You suggested so much without having to explain it. Great work! Thanks for contributing to Picture it & write. 🙂

I know some people don’t like snakes, but I think this one’s cute!
Here is my slithery offering.

Oh wow. I love the header for the blog. It’s stunning! I think the snake is really cute too. I’m a big fan of snakes personally. I’m still hunting for the perfect snake ring! Thanks for contributing. 🙂

What a creative idea. I love how the girl barely questioned it. She just followed suit. Imagine if the snake bit her! Beauty has its risks. Thanks for contributing this week, AR Neal. 🙂

Short and sweet. For a while I thought that the snake was getting a make over. I have always liked black nail polish, it’s pretty much the only nail polish I can bear on my nails. Too bad the smell of nail polish makes me gag. Thanks for contributing this week to Picture it & write. 🙂

I watched, entranced as she pulled the jet-black serpent out her bag and let it coil around her fingers. It was tiny but I could feel the menace behind Its dark eyes. It was hypnotic, I couldn’t look away. Deeper and deeper I stared into those souless orbs, tranfixed, addicted. So entrapped that I couldn’t see the man sneaking up behind me, the glint of the knife in his hand, and the look, knowing in conspiracy, between him and her.

Your paragraph had me mesmerized! I loved the way you set up that last sentence. Perfection. Thanks for the flash fiction, Joe.

So sad to want to die. I have always wanted a super power but this person seems to be capable of so much, and yet still wishes to die. It is not worthwhile living like that if you are constantly facing the deaths of others. Cool little contribution, Meghan. I hope you had a great start to the new year. 🙂

This was a great little story. I loved how a snake was used against him in the form of a woman. There are so many symbols. Strong writing. Very cool story. Thanks for contributing this week, Al!

Hey! It’s great to have another join us at Ermilia Blog for the Picture it & write challenge. I’m glad you found it. 😀 I thought this as a cute, quirky story. If I had a pet snake, I think I would also get my nails to match it’s scales. 🙂 Thanks for sharing your story with us!
