As Stephen King says, writing can be a lonely job. Having people believe in you can make such a big difference. While I have strong ambitions and a passion for writing, the people who have supported me have equally contributed to my progress as a writer. I’d like to take a quick moment to thank people who actively support me and my writing ventures. Thank you to my partner, Eliabeth, Samantha and Anne!

Who has supported you throughout your writing process? Who has believed in you?

Joyland

by Stephen King

genre: crime, paranormal, set in the 1970s

Seriously, what was the hype? Find out why I gave it a 1.5 out of 5 stars!

Summary

(Taken from Goodreads)

13596166Joyland is a whodunit noir crime novel and a haunting ghost story set in the world of an amusement park.

It tells the story of the summer in which college student Devin Jones comes to work as a ‘carny’ in small-town North Carolina and has to confront the legacy of a vicious murder, the fate of a dying child, and the way both will change his life forever. It is also a wonderful coming-of-age novel about friendship, loss, and your first heartbreak. Who dares enter the funhouse of fear?

Review

Since this was Stephen King, I knew there was going to be a lot of hype. I’ve read only Misery which I enjoyed. But I have always wanted to go back and read more. After all, he is a famous writer. This book, in my opinion, was over-hyped. Continue reading →

Misery

by Stephen King

genre: horror, thriller

I have finished another one of my audiobooks, Misery by Stephen King, and I loved it. Find out why!

Summary

(Taken from Goodreads)

Novelist Paul Sheldon wakes up in a secluded farmhouse in Colorado with broken legs and Annie Wilkes, a disappointed fan, hovering over him with drugs, ax, and blowtorch and demanding that he bring his heroine back to life.

Review

I have never read any of Stephen King’s novel but I picked this one up. At first I was a little doubtful that I would fully enjoy this novel because it was all about a man stuck in the one house, mainly the one room. This book enthralled me and it made the reading experience that much more ‘claustrophobic’ because, even as a reader, I couldn’t escape that space. Continue reading →
