__inspiring story quote

but they never meet. ever, inspiring story quotes, love, parallel line have a lot in common, relationships, sad angst quotes, which is pretty sad too, writers, writing, you might think that's sad. but every other pair of lines meets once and then drifts apart forever.

inspiring-quote-story-writersI found this quote and it really touched my heart. I had never drawn such an emotional comparison in all my years of maths. It made me think about stories and characters that would reflect these two types of lines. It made me want to write those stories. I love it when people take objective things in our world and spill emotion all over it. To me it represents great abstract thought. Do you like it too? Or do you think it’s pretentious?

Wake

by Lisa McMann

genre: paranormal, YA

Are you fascinated by dreams? I am, so when I heard about this novel I had to read it!

Summary

(Taken from Goodreads)
For seventeen-year-old Janie, getting sucked into other people’s dreams is getting old. Especially the falling dreams, the naked-but-nobody-notices dreams, and the sex-crazed dreams. Janie’s seen enough fantasy booty to last her a lifetime. She can’t tell anybody about what she does they’d never believe her, or worse, they’d think she’s a freak. So Janie lives on the fringe, cursed with an ability she doesn’t want and can’t control. Then she falls into a gruesome nightmare, one that chills her to the bone. For the first time, Janie is more than a witness to someone else’s twisted psyche. She is a participant

Review

After recently reading Dracula, I really enjoyed what this novel provided me. I generally don’t enjoy YA novels as much because they can feel shallow and follow the “high school” formula but this novel was different. I do have to note though, that the main reason why I enjoyed this novel was because of the concept: Janie witnesses other people’s dreams.

“He allowed himself to be swayed by his conviction that human beings are not born once and for all on the day their mothers give birth to them, but that life obliges them over and over again to give birth to themselves.”
-Gabriel García Márquez

I love this quote and the artwork was beautiful. Although I haven’t lived a long life, I believe that instead of continually changing every day that I’ve had chapters in my life that have required me to start anew, to give birth to myself once again.

Do you think we continually recreate ourselves on a daily basis or that we have significant moments in our lives where we must give birth to ourselves again?

The weather was humid, heavy and thick like a tongue. The razor grazed his skin, shedding the prickly beard he had recently been wearing. His head was cradled between her soft, tender hands and her abdomen. He breathed in the moment, hoping he would never have to exhale it. Despite all the boundaries they were breaking, he felt at peace. He peered up as she caressed his forehead, he noticed her dress falling from her bare, white shoulder. She was beautiful. At any moment she could slice his throat effortlessly, no one would care nor notice his disappearance. She wiped the last of the pearl-white foam from his cheeks and neck, revealing delicious, dark chocolate skin. They stood there, her hair tousled by the warm wind, staring at each other. A gust of warm wind nudged her into his hands.

For those of us who travel, whether it be across the globe or to stay the night at someone’s place, what do you need to take? Do you take practical items, sentimental items or nothing at all?

When it come’s to a single night at someone’s place the main thing I need to take is my phone. It keeps me connected with my parents who still, even at 19, freak out if I don’t call. It’s my security blanket.

If I am travelling the globe, like I am now (from Australia to Spain – The Canary Islands), I need internet. I need my laptop. I do not need to be connected 24/7 but I must know that I have a source. The laptop itself is required because I know I can write (I can’t write with pen and paper very well) and I can edit my photographs. If I can get mobile internet the laptop becomes the pool of life for me. 😛 Slight exaggeration… but maybe not so slight.

I thanked the waitress as she placed the brownie before me. My mother-in-law stared at it with pursed lips. The woman’s skin stretched over her petite frame, she was dry like a prune. I glanced at the ice cream as it began to melt, it hugged the brownie. “That looks,” my mother-in-law paused. “Creamy.” Heat flushed my cheeks and a nervous knot tightened in my stomach. I found it hard to keep my salivating tongue at bay. I wanted to eat the brownie but with my skeletal mother-in-law judging me I didn’t know if I could. “Hows the baby?” My in-law pried. “Still big?” The brownie was soaking up the cream like a sponge. A spark of anger energized my fingers. “Healthy,” I snapped and sunk my fork spitefully into the heart of my desert.
