__literary tattoos

I know not everyone loves tattoos but as book lovers, I think most people will agree some of these tattoos are pretty amazing. I have always wanted to get a tattoo at one point. I have no idea what it would be but these literary tattoos have only made my decision that much more complicated. The only literary tattoo I have seen in person is the Deathly Hallows symbol on a girl’s ankle.

Which of these do you like? Personally, I love the Alice in Wonderland and Harry Potter tattoos. Would you ever get a literary tattoo? Do you already have one? To see more variety click HERE.

Aren’t these pictures amazing? What a beautiful chandelier! It makes me think of fairytales set in forests or even Lord of the Rings. I found the photographs through this link.

Would you like it in your house? What does it remind you of?

The man had a clean-shaven face, soaked his neck with expensive cologne, and had slipped into his finest suit. He prowled the party, scanning all the potential mates. He licked his lips salaciously  wondering how good they would taste. One girl came up to him, real young, and began to flirt. Perfect, he thought. She had big dark eyes that mesmerised him, an exotic beauty for the taking. They strolled through the decorated backyard.  The multi-coloured lights laced the trees and illuminated the balcony. She rose her glass up and stared at the kaleidoscope of colours refract within her drink.

“What are you thinking about?” he asked. “We should head back. It’s cold out here. I can get you a nice blanket from the room if you’d come with me.”

“About what you have done in your past.” She murmured.

“You don’t want to know,” he chuckled. Taking the glass from her hand, he took a swig.

Desolately, her gaze came to meet his. His feet came out from under him, the glass shattered, and he lay limp on the floor. “Yes, it may be best that I never know.”

This graphic design class was harder than I expected.  There were so many layers of images that if I didn’t pay attention I was erasing a hand instead of a vase.  The undo button was my friend, most of the time.  I kept telling myself I needed to work in smaller chunks so that when I mess up it doesn’t undo everything I’ve been meticulously working on for an hour, but I never seem to do so.  Okay, maybe an hour is an exaggeration, but I feel like it’s that long.  Why am I even drawing stupid flowers anyway?  Oh yeah.  Her.

This is the Kansas City Public Library, Missouri. It was designed by Dimensional Innovations. Apparently the titles of the books displayed were selected by the local residents. Isn’t it cool? I love funky designs based on books! I wonder which book titles I would vote for…

__movie adaptation book covers: yay or nay?

This is an image I found on tumblr. I liked it immediately. I have a strange pet peeve where I just dislike movie adaptation covers for books. I prefer the ‘original’ covers (but there are so many editions these days that ‘original’ doesn’t really exist). Either way, I’ll buy any cover BUT the movie adaptation one. I think it feels cheap to me in some way. I feel like I’m buying the book because it reminds me of the movie. Which… feels a little bit like I’m betraying the literary world.

When I buy a book I want to buy the book, as it is. Somehow, if I buy the book with the movie adaptation cover I feel like I’m supporting the movie adaptation rather than the original novel. Strange, I know, but does anyone else share my pet peeve?

Yay or nay to movie adaptation book covers?
