I’m a massive fan of Disney. It’s hard to pick favourites so I won’t even begin (e.g. The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, The Emperor’s New Groove, Aladdin, The Jungle Book, The Sword in the Stone, Pocahontas, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Mulan, Tarzan, Chicken Little…) because I will end up naming them all anyway (Oops…). A friend of mine told me that they were releasing a new Disney Pixar film called ‘Brave’. We quickly went online and found the trailer.

I. Can’t. Wait.

Not only is she a princess but she kicks butt! Merida defies an age-old custom and destiny, unleashing chaos in the kingdom set in the mysterious highlands of Ireland. I’m a big supporter of strong female protagonists (so sick of Twilight garbage. *Lifts up shield to protect myself from the fans*) and this looks like it will be great. Apparently the director will be a female as well, meaning that this will be the first movie to be directed by a female for Pixar productions and Merida will be Pixar’s first female protagonist – some random trivia. (I wonder why it took Pixar so long to get some kick-ass females!)

Is anyone else excited by Brave? And don’t tell me I’m too old to get excited by Disney movies! It’s impossible to be too old for them. 😀 Are there some ‘children’ movies you can’t stop re-watching?

Rediscovering Old Movies

A Walk to Remember, childhood, Hook, movies, nostalgia, The Land Before Time, Victor Victoria

(By old I mean lost in boxes from when we moved, not old as in before I was born.)

When we moved (6 years ago-ish), I was doing a fantastic job labeling all of the boxes so I would know what was in all of them when it came time to unpack. However, as it got closer and closer to time to have the house cleared out, much of my room was still a mess.  I now have boxes, never been unpacked, with labels like “under bed” and “closet floor.” Eek. I unpacked one of those boxes. Reeses peanut butter cups *eyes longingly* and make-up, both of which a threw out.

But the box wasn’t complete devoid of hidden treasures. I found the movie A Walk to Remember.  I have to be in the right mood to watch it because even though I’ve probably seen it twenty times and know how it ends, it makes me cry.  It made me look back at some of my movies I haven’t watched in years.  The Land Before Time series, Hook, Victor Victoria; it was like reliving a small bit of my childhood.
