I love the heart and light-bulb symbols! 😛 With most editing happening in Word with track changes, there isn’t need for little symbols. But I think if my editor drew on my manuscript she would use numerous comic speech bubble symbols. It would represent ‘let us into the characters thoughts’ here’. Is there a symbol your editor would create just for your manuscript? Did these symbols make you laugh/smile?

I have no knowledge of editing. IS it scary? I have NO idea. When / how, since you bring it up, does it become scary?
Please and thanks. ❤ < 3 ❤
I have my work edited and I edit the work of others. I guess it can be scary to take criticism. But I find it really energising. Seeing how I can improve my novel makes me want to improve it. When I’m in a rut, having someone edit the scene often gives me motivation to continue it. Although, this is assuming that you have a good relationship with your editor or that your edit knows how to give constructive criticism. To remind you of what you’re good at. And what needs to be fixed.
I also really enjoy editing other people’s novels. I like being part of a process that helps the story reach its true potential. So editing can be scary, but it doesn’t have to be. 🙂

These made me laugh 😀
Haha. 😀
I love the “mixed metaphor” and the “add adventure” ones! My editors definitely need one for “stop using this word over and over.”
Oh, yes. I need that symbol too. I have a terrible knack of using ‘suddenly’ too many times.
That’s one of mine, too. Also various forms of smiling and laughter, and describing the movements of people’s eyebrows.
Haha, over-active eyebrows. 😛
