When you think of a writer, what do you see? Even though none of the writers I know are like this, my mind always displays Johnny Depp’s schizophrenic character Mort in Secret Window.
Part of it is because it’s Johnny Depp. Any excuse to oggle him, even in my imagination is time well spent. What about you? Do you see someone hunched over a typewriter or sitting at Starbucks?

I hadn’t thought about it. On second thought…I see Hemingway. Strange. No-one current. 🙂
At least your image is an actual writer 🙂 Good ‘ol Earnest.
~(*_~)~~
I kinda see me.
I’m sure there’s a Facebook meme about this.
Na! That’s a bloke trying to make people think he looks smart. Most writers I know write in a natty dressing gown and have pale skin from never seeing the light of day.
He may be in that picture, but not in the movie. He’s often drunk, smoking, in his bath robe, with his hair all wild. -.o
Geoffrey Chaucer, without doubt. It’s all been downhill ever since. Cue for the Shakespeare fanatics to take part.
I did enjoy the Canterbury Tales. Read it in high school and then reread it later to go back for the characters we skipped.
I started reading this post from my email and so all I saw was, “When you think of a writer what do you see?” and I was at first picturing Johnny Depp from the secret window because that was what i had just watched recently ha ha. But on average I guess I would picture just an average person sitting in a study at their desk with a cup of tea or coffee next to their computer while they work.
Oh that’s a hilarious coincidence. 😀
