I’m working on a 5000 word literature review for my Psychology Honours year and well… I’m working on making sure the essay is 100% content. With that many words, it’s easy to waffle. As writers (whether we’re working on essays or stories) we often get lost and write filler garbage. Editing is a pain but it’s necessary. To make sure that what looks like a cake… is not just a tiny cupcake.

A dreadful reminder of all those pieces of writing I did years ago, being so pleased with them at the time, but which now seem to be so shallow and not worth the effort I put in. Ah well, perhaps it’s all part of the learning process.
I feel your pain, Raymond. As a young teen I was on the Harry Potter fanfiction bandwagon. I cringe at the very thought of those stories. Funnily heaps of people on those sites loved my stories. But I have no idea why. But then again I loved fanfiction on there at the time. Looking back I can see they’re awful. I’ve visited some of my stories recently and I shudder. It’s all part of the learning process!
If you find yourself writing cupcakes, write poison cupcakes with pretty frosting.
Mmmm poisonous cupcakes always have the prettiest frosting.
