(Sorry guys, doing taxes. Got it done a full two hours before the deadline this year!)
When you see a typo, do you look down at the keyboard to see how close the letters are? The proximity of c to x is the reason I type “brb” instead of “be back in a sec.”
Should you forgive or forget? Grammarly did an interesting blog post about typos. As Ermi and I edit Blind Sight and the Picture it & Write Publication, we’re getting some good laughs. We have to remember that there are some times to pull out the red pen and mark-up every comma splice and typo, but there are also times to overlook them (aka the earlier stages).
How do you feel about typos? Can you forgive and forget?
In a chatroon I used to frequent, I was the queem of the typo. If you think I was bad, though, you should have met my Vietnamese friend, No Hing.
It can so easily happen. As long as they’re spotted by our wonderful editors what is the harm?
I am reminded of the newspaper that printed a story about a ‘battle-scared General’, following up with a correction the next day to a ‘bottle-scarred General’. Happens to us all.
LOL! Sounds like the typesetter was the bottle-scarred one.
Typos have been a thorn in my side for the last month. Even with 3 rounds of edits my book released with typos. I’m currently working with my publisher to get them fixed, but they have since cost me stars on a review. Ugh.
Make the most of them! Typographical Error
