The writers at POPSUGAR put together a fantastic list of 35 books to read before they are turned into movies this year. I’ve read some of them:
- Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins (Ermisenda’s review)
- Divergent by Veronica Roth (Ermisenda’s review)
- The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien
…that I apparently need to review. Ermisenda also reviewed Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn.
I’m interested in Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead and The Maze Runner by James Dashner. To be honest, I wasn’t going to read Divergent until I saw the movie trailer and hadn’t heard of Vampire Academy before its trailer. That’s one bonus for movies, they can on occasion allow us to discover books we might not have explored otherwise.
The full list of 36 Books Becoming 2014 Movies is also a convenient pin, so stash it on your TBR board and let’s get reading!

PS Are any of you participating in the Goodreads Challenge? How many books did you pledge and how far are you?
I’ve said I will read 15. I have done 2 :-\
You still have time. Try picking up some shorter books to help; Amazon has some great free ebooks and you can download the computer version so you don’t have to buy a kindle.
I already have a kindle which helps. Thank you for that 🙂 One of the problems is that I have just finished a book that I found very difficult to get through. I promised the author I would read it, but I have never been keen on the writing styles of Douglas Adams, Tom Sharpe or Terry Pratchett, and that is the genre of that book. I know a great many people would enjoy it, but i found it a trudge. Now I finished that, I am back onto the second book in the Song of Ice and Fire series.
Of the 2014 movies from PopSugar I’ve read Mockingjay, Divergent, TFIOS, The Maze Runner, The Hobbit and If I Stay. I’m the most excited about The Maze Runner as I seriously, seriously love that book and highly recommend it. I’m the least excited about If I Stay due to the casting of Chloe Moretz as Mia. While I love Chloe she seems to be cast in everything just to sell movies and I don’t think she looks a thing like Mia.

Ugh, I hate when that happens. Remember all of the fuss around casting Rue? 😦
