Welcome to the Picture it & Write creative writing exercise. I invite people to join in, comment with your paragraph of fiction to accompany the image. It doesn’t have to follow my story or reflect the same themes. It can be a poem or in a different language (please provide a translation). Anyone who wants to join in, is welcome. This photograph will be reblogged under Ermisenda on tumblr and added to the Picture it & Write gallery on Facebook and Pinterest.
Please continue to write however you’re inspired, but add a tag to the beginning of your post if there’s mature content in order to keep Picture it & Write an engaging event for all of our followers.
I’m very sorry but in order to continue to help Ermisenda add new and engaging content consistently, I may be unable to reply to every contribution. This has become so popular that I’m just unable to keep up. Thank you for understanding.
Sexy nurse. Sexy witch. Slutty Princess. Miley Cyrus at the VMAs. Miranda scanned the costumes and looked down at her stick thin frame. Even if she wanted to be a fire dancer, she was sure the outfit wouldn’t look right on her. Glancing over her shoulder at the other rack where the men’s costumes hung, she saw fully dressed super heroes, a few gladiators, a pimp.
At work, we’re supposed to dress for the job we want, not the one we have. Miranda thought, feeling uneasy as she looked back at the women’s costumes. Some of them were little better than underwear. She understood some women viewed Halloween as the one day a year they could dress like a slut and not be judged, but what message was that giving the next generation?

That was very enlightening piece Eliabeth. My sentiments as well. I enjoyed it!
Thank you Glynis ❤
It is a very long while and I have lost my touch for months. I am starting to write again today. Thank you for the opportunity. Here is my contribution:

Awe, what a great story. Great back-story and way to subtly scold people for judging people they don’t know.
The maiden of the flames
Twisting fire in blazing circles
Almost touching bare skin
Skin tanned by the heat of the Sun
A heady mix
The red heat of the flame
The cool touch of air on skin
Close to tolerance
Making her feel more alive
More real than anyone watching
As the maiden dances
Holding the line between hot and cold
The gap between life and death
Beautiful poem Joe.
Thanks 🙂
It’s been many years but I’ve acted in plays on occasion. Performing made me feel the way you describe in your poem–truly alive!
I find it the same way! Thanks for reading!

Here is my contribution to this week:

I love that inner conflict and how money changes things. The first bit about “Being Sally meant…” made me wonder, what would happen if she lost what “made her Sally.” What if she was in a car crash, her perfect skin melted and patched back together. What if she got cancer and lost all of her hair? What identity would she have then?
Hey Eliabeth, hoping you’re a lovely day! 🙂

I do hope mine isn’t too convoluted. I tried to divide it appropriately. I worked off several prompts.

Myself, I always enjoyed dressing in gruesome attire (vampire, zombie) although one time I dressed as a prostitute. Compared to today’s costumes, what I had on was practically Victorian!
To get on my soapbox for a moment, young girls are sexualized way too soon. The upcoming generation of girls is expected to focus on their looks above everything else. I think that’s sad.
They don’t make “sexy” costumes for people my size because larger people are seen as “ugly” and “unsexy.” This is a very judgmental society, and it’s not getting any better.
I can’t agree more.

The Circus Comes To Town
I like your one. I decided to go for a Halloween horror as well. With three warnings at the top – Clowns, Abduction and Violent Death
