I urge people to join in, comment with your paragraph of fiction to accompany the image. It doesn’t have to follow my story or reflect the same themes. It can be a poem or in a different language (provide a translation please ). Anyone who wants to join in, is welcome. This photograph will be reblogged under Ermisenda on tumblr and added to the Picture it & Write gallery on Facebook and Pinterest.
Please continue to write however you’re inspired, but add a tag to the beginning of your post if there’s mature content in order to keep Picture it & Write an engaging event for all of our followers.
Quick Note: This photograph has been requested by Joe at Joe2Poetry. I promised him that I would use this picture last fortnight, so I’m very sorry for the delay. I guess you’ll have to use those rotten tomatoes for something else. I pulled through! 😉 Also, this photograph is in fact liquid art and you can read/see more here.
I pulled my shirt down from my shoulders. The water had plastered it to my skin and it had now become see through. The shirt peeled off my like a second skin and the muscles in my chest tensed. The water embraced me as if it were her arms. I could see her. I continued my journey into the lake until I was neck deep in inky-black water. If I took even another step, I wouldn’t be able to breathe. But I was not hit by fear or panic. My eyes locked onto her form, unable to look away. Then she took another step forward, and so did I.

It’s nice to be mentioned! Thanks for using the pic. I will save my rotten tomatoes for politicians who deserved them 😉
Here’s mine today. I went a bit heavy on the sci-fi so sorry in advance if that is not your bag.

Any genre is ‘in my bag’ as long as it’s done well. 😉
There was so much description of the snot, it was like you’ve visited this place, Joe! I love the irony of intelligence existing amongst layers of snot. I wonder why they chose to officially name it Balthazar. Thanks for contributing this week! 🙂

Wow what a picture and what a story you wrote. It’s inexplicably spine-chilling!
I probably would be writing for this week’s prompt. Thanks for the great prompt 🙂

Thank you! 🙂 I hope to read your contribution this week.

For me, this time it’s personal rather than fictional.

This was powerful and yes, as Joe stated, sad. I want to somehow help you in taking away some of that pain and emotional suffering. I love water/swimming too. It is meant to be one of the better exercises for our joints as well. It relieves pressure. I wish you all the best. Thanks for contributing this week with a great piece of writing, but also by sharing a piece of yourself with us.

I liked this one. It was easier than I thought it would be. Thanks Joe 🙂

I liked how you saw a drawing/painting/art with the photograph than an actual woman. Very cool! I also liked how you described painting on black paper. I used to love doing that. Or using crayons. It’s different and yet, not THAT different either. We have just gotten used to white paper with black writing. Thanks for contributing this week!

Oh, the intrigue! I was wondering what exactly had ‘melted’. First I thought she was referring to her feet, as if she was an ice sculpture herself. Then I thought it was the path, and she had lost her way back home. It made me think. That is sometimes the price of walking down a path less known, you can end up lost. But hopefully not forever. Thanks for contributing this week, Glynis! 🙂

I loved this description – ‘The rings that moved outward from her steps were light, as if from a light caress or the barest touch to the still surface.’ Vivid imagery. Great contribution this week. 🙂

I love how the ending matches the beginning. I like how you called her Eve. It can allude to so many things and brings more depth to the poem. Mysterious Eve. Thanks for contributing this week, Neens! 🙂

I really liked this description – “Only love can be given. Shared between one soul and another. Secrets tucked deeply within, spoken through eyes and touch.” A nice story, Terry. Thanks for contributing this week. 🙂

I like how succinct this contribution was. The interesting combination of ‘porcelain doll’ which intuitively would be easy to break but then combined with ‘diamonds’ which is an incredibly tough jewel. Great work! Thanks for contributing this week to Picture it & write. 🙂

A beautiful story. I loved how you focused on the incompleteness. Somber but powerful. But when is any person complete? We may have moments where we feel complete but in reality, I think there is always room to grow. To develop. A great story, Gem. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Ermilia, You are right as there is always room to grow indeed.

I liked how she tricked the others into thinking that she was just a ‘look-a-like’. That was a great touch. Also, I loved your perspective of seeing the woman as a statue. Very creative! Thanks for contributing this week. 🙂

A very different response to the challenge this week. Nice! I liked this description, even though it was wordy, – ‘Today she wanted to avenge the constant doubt, the irrelevance of innocence, questions on goodness and good things, smothering complaints and the oscillating, ornamental love, born out of need, fear and loneliness.’ Thanks for contributing this week! 🙂

I don’t know if you saw the spray-on fabric thing, but “shirt peeled off [me] like a second skin” reminded me of that. I like the idea of an embrace so complete it’s like water.
My mind might have seen a statue more from desire than actual inspiration. Anyway, here’s The Diner in the Fog.
Ermilia said:
Lol, I’ve heard about the spray-on fabric but I never thought people really used it. I would freak out that it would damage my skin, like acid and I’d end up peeling off my skin. *Shudders*
Awesome complexity. Loved the German woven throughout. It added to the international spy atmosphere. Great story, Annie. Thanks for contributing this week. 🙂
