I hope this day doesn’t come. π
I found this funny picture from George Takei’s Facebook page (he’s amazing!) The winner comment was: It’s one of those analogue Kindles, isn’t it? (by Mark Howlett).
Had to share it! Did it make you smile or laugh?

hahahaha, hopefully not!
i do love my kindles, but real books are irreplaceable! x
Hehehehe. I agree, real books are irreplaceable! …I hope!
It made me chuckle but it also made me think, how sadly this situation could come about ! We all rely so much on our communication gadgets. Also I have noticed that the age of children with electronic games, mobile phones, laptops and ipads not to mention ipods soon a generation will not understand the point of books and writing with pen and paper ( that day may already of arrived) Already grammar, spelling and simple mathematics have gone out of the window. I have seen families with small children sitting in restaurants each using their own electronic device….. no conversation no interaction …. it is so sad! …sorry that was a bit of a rant but at least your post provoked discussion!! π
I’m always glad if my posts provoke discussion! So no apology needed. I also agree that we must not forget the great wonders of pen and paper. But…then again, the elderly may argue as to why we don’t watch movies in black n’ white, why we don’t use typewriters, or write with a quill, why we even have eBooks rather than all hard copies. So, I agree, it will be sad if people no longer have paperbacks (I don’t think THAT day would come entirely. Humans love collecting tangible objects), but I wonder what ‘great’ things it will be replaced by. Assuming that it will be replaced with better inventions. π
Yes you are right I suppose we have to move forward …….. if we had not we would still be living in caves screaming at the moon every three weeks!! π
It makes me wonder how many things from the past our kids (and we!) would already scratch our heads about. What would we do with a coal scuttle? How long is it since an ash can has been used for ashes from a grate? What’s a grate?…
Honestly, I (Ermisenda) was actually asking myself those questions. I don’t know what a coal scuttle or a grate is. π Oh no, the end is already here! I’m part of it!
I rest my case. π
Stealing things from Geogre Takei is one of the finer things in internet life!
He’s the bestest. He’s my favourite Facebook ‘friend’. π
And yes, I said bestest. Because best doesn’t cover it. π
