I urge people to join in, comment with your paragraph of fiction to accompany the image. It doesn’t have to follow my story or reflect the same themes. It can be a poem or in a different language (provide a translation please ). Anyone who wants to join in, is welcome. This photograph will be reblogged under Ermisenda on tumblr and added to the Picture it & Write gallery on Facebook and Pinterest.
Please continue to write however you’re inspired, but add a tag to the beginning of your post if there’s mature content in order to keep Picture it & Write an engaging event for all of our followers.
Clash. Ching. Metal scraped against metal as the dark knight’s sword was deflected. Kiandra stumbled backwards. Her breath was dispelled in a quick burst as her armor failed to pad her landing. Sprawled on her back, she attempted to roll away, but the dark knight’s foot came down hard on her chest. His dagger flashed in the light, aimed at the soft flesh between her chest plate and helmet.
Patter patter patter. Quick steps on the wood dock caused Elise to sigh heavily. She was discovered, her reading now interrupted. Perhaps she should have thought of a more inconspicuous location than the middle of a lake.
“How can you spend hours reading?” her little sister asked.
‘How can you spend hours rotting your brain?’ she thought in response, but instead replied, “how can you spend hours watching TV?” No matter how spectacular the cinematography was, nothing compared to the scenes Elise’s imagination conjured.

Other people telling my spoilers haven’t ruined books for me, but when the book gives stuff away, somehow that’s different.

Okay. Okay. I went for the down side on this one. Too much reading of Adbusters. But also, seeing my kids this weekend and seeing how they are struggling, living, and i so much ache for them. Randy

Hi Randy, you certainly wrapped up the current economic struggles well. We’re told to go to college and get an education to get the good jobs, but I have friends who went to law school or medical school who are struggling to find jobs. At least I graduated only 40k in debt. What a sad world it is when “only 40k” is actually a blessing.

I’m truly sorry… what a screwed up world the wealthy have made this.

I love it! I totally went the same way but with a very different imagined scene. The idea of a battle scene was one I considered (also a weird one with lawyers). I’m so glad you wrote it. The knight’s foot coming down on her chest was awesome.
It’s funny. I’ve tried to come around for the TV watchers. We have different imaginations and I think for some of us TV takes us places a book can’t take us. Let me on the record state how sorry I feel for those people!
Here’s Novel Romance.

I had to reread the end, it was a little unclear. Did her fiance die in an explosion?
For the rest of it, I loved it. It struck a chord because I was just Maid of Honor in a wedding in March, my baby brother got married last year, and a few of my high school friends are already popping out babies. I am far from the last “Miss” and even though I have my moments, I’m happy at the pace I’m going and where my life is headed.

Yes thank you for your time with this. I do appreciate constructive criticism in order to improve my writing. It has been a long time since I studied English at school! I would love to do a creative writing course at some point.
Cheers!

That’s a lovely adventurous piece. I wish the combat had been real and not from the pages of her book, though.
Thumbs up to your work.
