As Ermisenda and I prepare Blind Sight to come out in paperback, we once again toil over the editing process. Not only is it almost impossible to edit your own work because you know what you meant to say, this image (found on Facebook) shows how easy it is to trick the brain into reading something correctly.
Why does editing have to be so difficult! But the good news is, we are working very hard to have the paperbacks out in time for the holidays. Wish us luck and much thanks for being part of our community.

My brain seems to be wired differently. I seem to always catch such mistakes.
Maybe you’re destined to become an editor.
Or a proof reader. Lol. I’m terrible with comma usage, and other such grammar quirks!
I am self-publishing a book. I had to pay someone else to edit it because I doubt that I can edit my own book. I think I could edit another person’s but not my own. I remember the story too well.
Congrats on self publishing, welcome to the world of indie publishing.
We hired two editors for our novels. One looked over the big picture, pace, characterization, etc. The other looked over the grammar once we were done tweaking it based on the first editor’s recommendations. We also had an ARMY of bets readers (all of whom we deeply appreciate if any of them are reading this), but things still managed to slip through. It was very disheartening.
It’s like primitive mental block 🙂
