I urge people to join in, comment with your paragraph of fiction to accompany the image. It doesn’t have to follow my story or reflect the same themes. It can be a poem or in a different language (provide a translation please ). Anyone who wants to join in, is welcome. This photograph will be reblogged under Ermisenda on tumblr and added to the Picture it & Write gallery on Facebook.
Every fortnight we hope to host a photograph suggested by contributors. So, keep those photograph recommendations coming. Submit your favourite images (with credit) for next week’s Picture it & write!
I caressed my grandmother’s paper-skin face. She was weary and trembling. How much longer did she have to live? I watched as the life leaked out of her, in the form of tears. I gripped onto her hand. With the last morsels of energy, she pulled something out from the drawer and dropped it into my palm. It was a peculiar watch, with a rib-cage for the cover. “Use it wisely,” she whispered and she never spoke again.

Here is mine. Nothing like usual. That’s good for me, right? Thanks for another lovely photo!

I loved this part ‘My heart beats like a ticking clock within my chest.’ A great use of the clock imagery. Thanks for contributing!
I have added a second entry for this—the response from the object of the watchmaker’s desire. Have a look see!–

Ooo, and allow the romance to unfold!
I really like paper-skin face. I can almost hear it making a dry sound as I caress her. And the life leaking out… I get the feeling somehow the watch was holding it in.
You forced my hand this week as I’ve been buried in three chapters of Kate. So here’s William’s Ritual.
Awesome. I like this extra detail to the scene. I also liked that he was rather ordinary without all his wealth and clothes. Once all the exterior is wiped away, we’re all just common humans. Thanks for contributing this week, Annie! 🙂
Life leaking out in the form of tears….brilliant.

I tried to find another word to describe the rib-cage of the cover, and got carried away. 🙂
I love your idea about the watches taking people places. Great suspense at the end too. Awesome work! 😀 Thanks for contributing this week!

I felt like I had to read quickly, in case the clock would punish me too! Great structural choice. This feels like it could be the beginning to a greater story. 🙂 Thanks for contributing this week!
thank you for the chance to let me write again for you

Great work. Very sad. It’s a sensitive topic that you explored with care. Thanks for contributing this week, Terry!

Haha, I loved the opening paragraph about how boring an archaeologists job usually is. This was definitely a fascinating find in his career though. Very gripping. Great work!

“Can You Watch a Watch Fob?’
An entertaining, and at times confusing, conversation between an interesting pair. 😀 I like how while the watch sparked the story, it really took a style of it’s own. Thanks for contributing this week, Randy!
Wow. What great stories being posted this week!!!!! Randy

Ohh what an interesting story. I hope you continue it. As for me, mine is a bit more than a paragraph, but the picture really worked with my Steampunk story, so…I hope you enjoy.

Yikes. I’d love to see where it would go next. I wonder if she would carry out the task. Thanks for contributing this week!

I liked how you referred to the watch being a reminder of warm days that had gone. I was curious to find out what those days were like. Nice intrigue. Thanks for contributing. 🙂
