I urge people to join in, comment with your paragraph of fiction to accompany the image. It doesn’t have to follow my story or reflect the same themes. It can be a poem or in a different language (provide a translation please ). Anyone who wants to join in, is welcome. This photograph will be reblogged under Ermisenda on tumblr and added to the Picture it & Write gallery on Facebook.
Every fortnight we hope to host a photograph suggested by contributors. So, keep those photograph recommendations coming. Submit your favourite images (with credit) for next week’s Picture it & write!
I ran the heavy wet cloth over my shoulders. The water, although once scalding hot, had turned lukewarm. Scattered droplets on my body cooled within seconds. I was only delaying the inevitable and yet it took an hour for me to finish my bath. I didn’t want to face what was to come. I wanted the seconds to suspend themselves. Despite all my desires to halt time, it continued on, unperturbed. My life was about to be changed forever, whether for better or worse, and there was nothing I could do about it.

Nice, Ermi. I really got this! At a quick glance on my phone it seemed more sensual, but then when I looked at the full-size photo, it totally threw me into her thoughts this way. The way her mouth is turned and she’s cradling herself… it’s almost sad and pensive. I think you captured it very well!
Slow week… Well, my excuse was Batman. 🙂 Here’s A Little Soap. Hope you like it.
I could definitely feel her frustration. Throw the camera into the water! A photographer should make a model feel comfortable, Guy clearly isn’t very good. 😛 Thanks for contributing this week at Picture it & write, Annie! 🙂
Thanks. I also thought she looked sad and pensive. Great minds think alike! 😉

Yikes. I would not survive with an eco-shower. I did’t expect this kind of story. Fantastic though. I love the humorous addition at the end. It didn’t feel appropriate. Great work, Joe!

Here is my contribution for this week:
http://shalvikap.wordpress.com/2012/08/05/little-mistakes/
Fantastic! I loved the growing tension and that she was going to finally make up for one of her ‘little mistakes’. A touchy subject that you approached perfectly. Thanks for contributing this week to Picture it & write, Shalvika!
Almost like she hugs herself. But it’s a shy and modest pose. The neck and shoulder, the curve where the two meet. And the droplets glisten: silver in the softened light.
Sensual skin, dawning sensation. Contemplative lips, slightly pursed. And the graceful fingers rest. I see a figure cleansed, and cleansed again: the burnished sheen of beauty.
But still my vision is intrusive,
while she steeps herself that way,
and while she looks that tender.
I never thought of exfoliating as burnishing. 🙂
I like the emphasis on how the person’s gaze is intrusive since she ‘looks that tender’. I agree, the image itself looks so personal. Thanks for contributing!

That honey mask sounded delightful. I love how this story seems to end on a positive note and yet ends so melancholic. Touching. Great work!

The weeks are flying past – It’s time for another post… 🙂
Ooooh, I just read yours and I’m wondering what life will bring for this woman…! very mysterious….. sounds like a good beginning to a novel….!
Right? It sounds like she’s being forced into an arranged marriage.
Certainly one scenario…. Whatever it is; I’m glad it’s not me….!
Thanks! Maybe it will turn into a novel some day. 😀 Oh, this sounds like me in the shower. It’s my strict thinking time. I don’t like having to cut it short at all. Thanks for contributing this week to Picture it & write!
It certainly sounds like the beginning of a novel to me!! 😉
Most of us can identify with that… The end of the day; a quiet time just for ourselves… Aaahhhh… 🙂
I finally got mine done: http://mariangreensmusings.wordpress.com/2012/08/08/picture-it-and-write-the-stream/
Yikes! Lovely build up of anticipation. Great work, Marian. Thanks for contributing this week to Picture it & write. 🙂

Great work. I loved the description of ‘ribbons of blood’. I’m very glad she stopped him. You go girl! Thanks for contributing this week to Picture it & write.
De zondes van vroeger zijn weg.
Het washandje leidt de weg.
Naar een nieuw bestaan.
Ik droog de problemen van mij af
En ga terug naar af.
Een nieuw begin.

The sins of before are gone
The cloth leading the way
to a new existence.
I dry away the problems
and go back to the start.
A fresh start.

I love how your poem had a more positive outlook on the picture. Great work, Otheus!
Oh that’s nice. Washing away sins! Good idea!

What hardship’s has this person endured and what have they to face next? Nice metaphor in there too, they seem to be washing away life’s burdens.
