I urge people to join in, comment with your paragraph of fiction to accompany the image. It doesn’t have to follow my story or reflect the same themes. It can be a poem or in a different language (provide a translation please ). Anyone who wants to join in, is welcome. This photograph will be reblogged under Ermisenda on tumblr and added to the Picture it & Write gallery on Facebook.
Every fortnight we hope to host a photograph suggested by contributors. So, keep those photograph recommendations coming. Submit your favourite images (with credit) for next week’s Picture it & write!
- I was captive under her gaze. The darkness of her pupil absorbed the last ounce of freewill I held. The glittering stars and dazzling smears that painted her iris formed a galaxy of emerald and aqua shades. Mesmerised by her beauty – no, hypnotised – I fell down onto my knees. This divine creature’s gaze bore through me and read my soul. All my attention was dedicated to holding her gaze. I was terrified she’d look away. For fifty years I was a slave to those eyes, then one day something else caught her attention and there was no more life in my own.

Ack! This pic kinda freaked me out when it showed up in my feed. I love that you said “glittering stars”, because I thought the words, “universe in her iris” when I first stared into the picture. Very nice the way the hypnosis drains you until there is nothing left.
Apparently it’s the eye of a panther, I never knew they had green eyes. It’s a beautiful image and mesmerised me. I can’t wait to see what people come up with! 😀
Okay, here’s mine… The Night That Lived.
Wow! I love the description of ‘the night opened it’s eye’ and ‘Each step summoned terror and it drew itself upon him clinging to his skin like the cloaks of river mud he made as camouflage to hunt.’ Awesome work. A chilling story, I hope he survived. Thanks for contributing this week, Annie. 🙂

Oh! I love how you manipulated the reader’s perspective, and only revealing the true identity of this great predator at the end. Great structural work. Thanks for contributing this week to Picture it & write, Terry. 🙂
Swift as a shadow.
Hiding in the Night.
Mighty in plain sight.
Ruler of the plains.
King of the night
beast ferocious and mean.
Called the midnight queen.
Hunting preys as a shade.
Moving quietly at fast pace.
Then it opens it eyes.
And you’re at it’s grace
– Otheus
I like the midnight queen. I wonder if like lions, it’s the female panthers who hunt.
I wouldn’t want to be at the mercy of this midnight queen. A wickedly gripping poem. Great work, Otheus!
Here’s Eye Spy
Wow. This eye is even more powerful on your blog, since it has a black background. Fantastic work. I love the twist. I’m a sucker for story twists. ^^ I bet she was glad that it wasn’t a stalker. Also, this description was so fantastic “constant chirr of crickets”. I hope to see you next week at Picture it & write!
I felt a strong feeling of fear when I saw this picture. i might be able to combine it with the strange dream that I had last night. I just haven’t decided if I want to write the story. My mind seems to get stuck in the planning of the plot. (Main character seems trapped and helpless.)
Just start writing one sentence… and then a second.. and maybe it’ll turn into a story. Sometimes we just have to dive into writing if not the story will always be hesitant to come out. I’m glad it evoked a strong response in you and I hope to read a great contribution soon! 🙂
Like this?
Tracy peeked cautiously into her mind. Her poor frightened story shivered there in the corner, hidden behind last week’s to-do list. “It’s okay,” she coaxed. “You don’t need to be afraid. Look!” Her voice changed to enticing. “I’ve got readers for you…”
One word at a time, her story crept timidly out from it’s hiding place. It glanced nervously left and right, as if doubt would leap out at any moment to snatch it. A sentence shyly appeared, and then another.
Tracy reached in slowly and scratched her story gently between the sentences. Encouraged, it dove out onto her page. All it really needed was a little rainbowheartlove.
Perfect! 😀

Here is my creation: http://authormercedes.wordpress.com/2012/06/19/life-or-death/
I know it’s a panther, but when I saw the eye I thought dragon and went with it!
Very powerful use of ‘life…death… it’s all the same’ to finish your poem. Fantastic! I imagined this monster as a basilisk when I was reading your poem. I loved the idea of it’s eyes being like black diamonds, what a great descriptive term. Thanks for contributing this week to Picture it & write!
Hi there! Here is my contribution for this week:

Wow, so powerful. I love the last two lines. That was a great story Shalvika. I feel so sorry for the commando. Thanks for contributing this week to Picture it & write! 🙂
