I found these necklace’s while browsing the web. How cool are they?! I don’t think I’d personally buy the hanging library (see left) but I really love the little red book necklace (see above) and the feather one (see below) . I am tempted to try and make a mini book necklace of my own…
The store that sells the red book necklace prints poems inside of them. How cool!
What do you guys think? Tacky or trendy?

I like it! But definitely in moderation.
I agree, in moderation. Thanks for commenting!
I dunno, it seems kind of tacky to me, although I like the design of the necklaces. Maybe use them to decorate bags, etc., instead? Definitely don’t do what that girl did in the pictureβway overboard!
I also think the chunky necklace is overboard. Putting these chains on bags is actually a great idea. Thanks for voicing your thoughts. π
Uum…yeah y’know i wouldn’t say it was either tacky or trendy, more along the lines of different, unusual, kinda creative.Thats why i like the Etsy stuff you can always find something a bit different…
I think littlej is right though you can over do it…less is definitely more.
Definitely. Less is definitely more. I love Etsy for those reasons too! π Thanks for stopping by!
Today’s trendy is tomorrow’s tacky anyway. The feather one is cute as long as it’s not too big. It might be even cuter if it had matching pendants. π
Ooo, I like your thoughts on the pendants. That is true, there is no such thing as a universal, withstanding ‘trend’. At one point or the other someone will deem it tacky. Thanks for commenting, Annie! π
Tacky. Definitely tacky.
Or Trendy. Yeah trendy. I’ll go with trendy.
Or tacky…
Haha! π The chunky necklace is tacky to me, but still kinda trendy. I really prefer the single book necklace. Thanks for stopping by, kvennarad. π
I love them! But I’m kind of a geek…
So am I, so don’t worry. π Thanks for voicing your thoughts!
Hi!
I think it could go either way, tacky: the lady with the library of the Congress around her neck. Trendy, as you said: one small and beautiful book. And if it has your favorite poem inside or someone else’s then is the perfect gift.
I know for me it would be an ideal gift, the single book with a great poem. I’m glad we agree. π We’re on the same page π Hasta luego, bluejellybeans! π
I like it!
I’m glad to hear it!
Cool! What better way to show the world that you are a book-a-holic and proud of it… π
Yep! It definitely makes the statement loud and clear. That’s another reason why I like the single book necklace. Thanks for commenting, Ria!
Yeah the library would be too much but one or two books together… that’s cute π
Adorable, right? You’d know, you’re my fashionista. I’ve seen your cool posts on your fashion/make up blog. Thanks for stopping by evilnymphstuff and sharing some of your fashion wisdom with us. π
Those book necklaces are actually pretty cool. I’d like to get one, but money is very tight right now. I’d be more inclined to make my own, or have my daughter make one, as she is very good at custom jewelry making. Thanks for sharing these with us.
No worries, always a pleasure. I think some of them look exquisite. It’s a great idea for jewellery. I also want to try my hand at making my own. That way you can choose what you want on the pages of your mini book: a small story, poem or blank. Thanks for voicing your thoughts, Larry!
I think one little book would look really cute π I love the feather one, definitely not a fan of the hanging library but one on its own is definitely working!
The feather one is adorable. β€ I'm glad you agree. Thanks for commenting, Khadija!
I’d wear one … two would look a bit too much …
I think because it’s a bulky “pendant” that it looks the best when it’s the single feature. When you have a fat diamond you let the diamond shine. At least, that’s my logic. Thanks for stopping by, Eliza! π
Good things come in tiny packages. I might wear the feather necklace. As for tacky or trendy, I’d say it depends on the ensemble. With sweats, definitely tacky.
Agreed! Sorry it took me so long to reply back, Sherry. π
I have an orange one on a copper chain that I bought when one of my short stories got published. I don’t know if it’s by the same people as the Etsy shop — mine was made by a local Toronto artist. The book is blank inside. Someday I will figure out exactly what I want it to say.
I have to admit I don’t wear it often. When I was a kid I was given a lot of overly precious “girls who like books” gifts, and sometimes it reminds me of that. I like it better when I can set it apart in its own category.
Hm, and I’ve got through this entire comment without using the words “tacky” or “trendy”… I think context is everything. I’m not big on trends because usually the things that are trendy last longer than the trend itself, and I don’t like the idea of things being tossed just because they’re not trendy anymore. So if you’re going to get one, I recommend getting one you could see yourself using for a long, long time.
I agree. Fashion changes so quickly. Something can be trendy for a week to be dismissed the next. It’s important what you find trendy. Congrats on publishing one of your short stories! π I think buying a little book necklace is a great way to reward yourself. Sorry for the SUPER late reply. Just saw your comment today. π
