On a federal tax Sch D you have to list the entire purchase price let’s say 1000 then you would list the sales price, less commisions or sales cost let’s say 1500. You would have a gain of 500 which you would pay taxes on. Apparently you have not made the correct computations or provided the facts to the IRS. They are right you are wrong.
