I don’t think I could bear to cut up ANY book. Its like on Tumblr when people use a marker to cross out all but a few words on a page. I die a little inside.
Now, I could see doing this with photocopied pages, or printed copies of the prose itself. But not the actual book.
Where do old books go to die? I mean I’m guessing they are shredded and burned and tossed in the garbage pretty regularly, or we’d be overrun with them, right? So maybe a book that going to die anyway? Probably not P & P.
I have had to throw away some Bibles because the pages were coming lose from the binding. I would have liked to do a project with it instead of just throwing the book out. But, I just kept the front page where the person who gave it to me left a note and tossed the rest. I like the idea of using an old textbook that you couldn’t sell back too.
Yeah, I have some books that are very torn up. Frankenstein is one of them. Would be nice to recycle them rather than tossing them… now I’ll have to scrounge around Pinterest for ideas.
I wouldn’t be able to cut any book! Maybe I could print some random paragraphs of my own to do this but not any paperback books
Books are just too precious!

The only time I could see doing this is with our own book just because it’s our own material lol.
i never cut up a book, i may loan it out and never get it back, but never cut up beautiful words
Same. Photocopiers, that’s what they are invented for
true, true, duh me!!! LOL

Oh that’s a good point… I’ve always assumed they just get beaten up and worn over time.
Lovely Post! Pride and prejudice is one of my favourite books! My goodness! I could never do this to a book. Any book, no matter how terrible.
Adieu, scribbler
I might cut up one of my old textbooks that my school wouldn’t let me sell back.
Well in that case….
Adieu, scribbler
I love this kind of thing!
There’s a female British artist (her name escapes me at the moment) who takes sections of books and creates pictures with them.
I beleive that books are meant to be enjoyed, and I’d rather cut one up and use pieces than see it thrown in a bin or be pulped
Xx

Jane Eyre, The Picture of Dorian Gray, The Divine Comedy, anything by Poe!
I got The Picture of Dorian Gray a few years ago for Christmas, thank you for reminding me I need to read it!
I can’t see doing that to a book. But we have a stack of those political flyers that clog our mailbox…. Hmmmm
Bahaha, oh that’s a brilliant use for those. Good thinking; I’d just been recycling them.
